Seven things about me:

  1. I am a bit of a rule-breaker/luddite when it comes to doing things. For example, I still own a "dumb" phone with no shame, and I still wear a pair of Crocs out in public because the comfy shoes I really want I can't afford right now (paying off student loans!). I am sure my friends secretly feel sorry for me, but it really doesn't bother me.
  2. I love learning new things, but can get to be a bit distracted with my pursuits.
  3. I like sewing and making and building things, but they have to be practical in order for me to be motivated. This can be a problem when I encounter craft projects for my kids that have nothing to do with building real skills at all.
  4. As evidenced by #1, I am frugal by nature, but I enjoy it. One of my favorite days of the week is Wednesdays when the new supermarket flyers come out. Really!
  5. My idea of a perfect day is to have the house to myself to get it in order, or to have an unlimited shopping spree to a fabric or home improvement store.
  6. I have a secret love for vintage self-improvement books from the Victorian age - especially Samuel Smiles. They were much more about growing your character through trades and perseverance, and less about the touchy feely stuff. You can find them for free on Google books.
  7. I love Indian and Thai food.
